Mortgage Rates Move Higher In The New Year

Mortgage rates were up again this week in Freddie Mac’s Weekly Survey. The 30 Year Fixed Rate Mortgage was at 3.22% in today’s Freddie Mac survey and the 15 Year Fixed Rate Mortgage was at 2.43%. These are the highest rates in the survey since May 2020. This corresponds to an overall rise in long term interest rates to start the year after it was disclosed that the Federal Reserve may raise interest rates more rapidly and robustly than previously thought.
